Welcome to OPdA

In my role as Director of Postdoctoral Affairs, I welcome you to Cambridge. I hope that your time here is enjoyable, exciting and productive.

The postdoc community in Cambridge numbers over 4,000 and is responsible for much of the research that underpins the University’s world-leading reputation.

In recognition of the importance of postdocs, the University established the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPdA) in 2013 to look after the interests of the community. We have a base at 16 Mill Lane (The Postdoc Centre), where you can come for information and advice.

The staff at the Postdoc Centre are mainly volunteers who are partners of postdocs. If we cannot help you, we will probably know someone who can. The Postdoc Centre also has meeting and seminar rooms that you can book, a small but well-stocked library and coffee! A good way to find out about upcoming news and events for the postdoc community in Cambridge is to sign up to OPdA mailouts and the PdOC Society’s newsletter

Please also let us know if you have suggestions for any new activities or support - our aim is to support you and enrich your time here in Cambridge!

Dr Rob Wallach
