Application Form for Mentors (postdocs)

DEADLINE 9:00am on 25 February 2018.

This is a developmental mentoring scheme. Mentors will not assist with Mentees’ CVs, grants, or act as references.

In order to become a Mentor, you are required to attend a 2-hour lunchtime training session.

Expectations:

  • Meetings are regular rather than as required (a minimum of 4-6 times a year)
  • Meetings generally last at least 30 minutes (but not too long so no more than 60 minutes!)
  • The Mentee is responsible for scheduling meetings
  • The Mentee sets the agenda
  • Meetings should ideally be on neutral ground  (though this might not always be possible)
  • Focus is on building the Mentee’s problem solving/self-efficacy skills, exploring solutions rather than advice/solutions
  • Either might prepare a summary, for their own use, which details the main issues and agreed actions
