Third anniversary of the Postdoc Centre @ Mill Lane

last modified May 22, 2017 01:58 PM
Today we're celebrating three years of dedicated support for postdocs at Mill Lane.

Three years ago, the first Postdoc Centre at 16 Mill Lane opened to provide a space for postdocs across the University to socialise as peers, develop professional collaborations, and access the support of the wider University.

Since then, the centre has seen almost 1,500 events, meetings, workshops, children's groups, talks, and networking sessions - organised by postdocs themselves, and by other services around the University specifically for postdocs.

Around 700 postdocs have been welcomed into the University community through postdoc inductions at the centre.

It has also provided office space for the OPdA, PdOC, and NVS.

Our team of staff and volunteers have been providing support to postdocs throughout their time here, from before they arrive, to after they move on.

Many new projects & pilot schemes, networks, societies, and collaborations have come out of this unique space.

So a big thank you to Mill Lane and to everyone who has made it a success so far - including you. Please keep telling us how we can better support you.

Last year, a second Postdoc Centre opened at the Biomedical Campus to provide a space for postdocs on the Addenbrookes site.

In September, a new purpose-built Postdoc Centre - the first of its kind in the country - will open on the North West Cambridge development, providing a permanent space for postdocs at the heart of the University's newest intellectually vibrant community.
