Paid Opportunity to Peer Review a New Course in Philosophy

last modified Mar 19, 2018 11:26 AM
Opportunity for postdocs/lecturers to undertake a peer review of an undergraduate course in Philosophy being developed by the University of Central Asia (UCA) and University College London (UCL).

Application deadline: 12 noon on 28 March 2018.

Our colleagues from UCA have an opportunity for postdocs/young lecturers or JRFs.  UCA has been developing an undergraduate course in Philosophy with UCL and they need to undertake a peer review of the programme.

They are looking for a reviewer to slot into the Phase 1 timeline (see below) at any stage, but ideally for comments on the second draft by 15 March. There is expected to be three 1-hour review sessions in total required, the honorarium for this is expected to be US$200.

However, their preference is for someone to be involved for the entire remainder of the timeline, including both phases, in which case the honorarium is expected to be US$1,000.

Phase 1

  1. 5 Feb: First high-level framework draft (3 pages) to be submitted by UCL to UCA
  2. 28 Feb: UCL to provide feedback from 3 external reviewers on framework document
  3. 28 Feb: UCA to expect internal feedback from reviewer appointed by UCA. This feedback to be also shared with UCL on receipt.
  4. 15 March: UCL to provide next detailed draft of proposed curriculum based on all feedback received including UCA reviewers
  5. 4 April: UCL to share penultimate draft of curriculum to UCA and all reviewers for final comment.
  6. Mid-April: UCL and UCA meeting in London or Central Asia (CA) with reviewers if available. UCA to cover expenses to CA.
  7. 7 May: final submission of curriculum.

Phase 2

  1. May: Advertise for faculty - international search & interview - UCL and any available reviewer/s.
  2. June: Begin training of appointed faculty to run Philosophy module.

If you are interested in applying please email your CV to .

Application deadline: 12 noon on 28 March 2018.
