last modified May 14, 2018 11:22 AM
20 free places are available for Cambridge postdocs to attend the Wellcome Genome Campus' first Hackathon in Hinxton, Cambridge on 2-3 July 2018. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

This opportunity is available through the OPdA and the postdocs2innovators (p2i) network.

Who’s it for?

If you have a background in genomics, biodata, UX design, informatics, engineering, medicine, ethics, and are interested in providing solutions that improve health outcomes and entrepreneurship, then this event is for you.

A two-day event that provides hackers with an opportunity to creatively and collaboratively address challenges in the sphere of genomes and biodata. You will develop solutions that offer real-world impact while honing your creative, communication and entrepreneurial skills.

What are we hacking?

Wellcome Genome Campus have teamed up with some amazing innovative companies to create this one-of-a-kind event. Each of their partner companies will pose a challenge for the hackers to take on.

The challenges will focus on issues such as:

  • How can we use data to find new opportunities to diagnose and treat disease?
  • How can we capture and curate biodata more effectively?
  • How can patients share their data to benefit society?
  • How can artificial intelligence improve the use of biodata in healthcare?

Keep an eye on the event website for the details of the Grand Challenge Partners to be released shortly.

Hackers will work in teams alongside mentors and advisors from a range of Cambridge Cluster companies and organisations and beyond. These advisors will be on hand to coach participants through the steps required to turn a novel idea or technology into a successful business.

Outputs from all teams will be presented on day two of the hackathon, with a range of prizes awarded for innovative solutions and outstanding efforts throughout the event.
