Postdoctoral Fellowships in Biomedical Sciences and Innovation & Entrepreneurship - 2019 call for applications now open

last modified Jan 08, 2019 10:10 AM
Two postdoctoral fellowship schemes managed by the OPdA are open for the 2019 round of applications - the Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellowship Programme and the Canada-UK Postdoctoral Fellowships for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellowships have been developed in honour of Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, a pioneer in the biomedical sciences, who when Vice-Chancellor of the University led and shaped the development of key provisions for Cambridge’s postdoc community.

The Borysiewicz Fellowships will take outstanding Cambridge postdocs and develop them into motivated, strategic future leaders ready to pursue a range of global questions and problems. The programme will provide a unique mixture of purposeful and outcome-driven engagement opportunities for postdocs both within and outside their area of expertise, which will develop their skills as leaders and lead to a chance to pursue truly independent work on novel ideas.

The Canada UK Postdoctoral (CanUK) Fellowships for Innovation and Entrepreneurship aim to promote and expand the careers of talented Postdoctoral researchers to enable them to become future world-leaders and entrepreneurs who will create new technologies and expand the impact graduates will have in creating new jobs and economic growth.

It aims to create and cultivate a cadre of motivated and strategic early-career researchers with international experience, top-level skills and global contacts across academia and industry.

For any postdoc interested in applying for the 2019 intake of either the Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences or the Canada-UK Postdoctoral Fellowships, the OPdA will be running three drop-in information sessions in January and February.

The administrators of the programmes will be present to answer any of your questions and there will even be free sandwiches and a drink!

The deadline for applications to both programmes is 25 February 2019.

Successful Fellows will begin the programmes in June 2019.
