Information, media, communications and emergencies

You can join your local public library for free, where you can borrow CDs, DVDs, use the internet, and avail yourself of other free services. You will need to show two forms of identification to join, such as a passport or bankcard and proof of address. Each area of the UK has its own individual dialling code. When calling another country, check the Country Calling Codes website to find the code you need to make your call. To dial an area in the UK from abroad, dial the international access code (UK is 44), proceed with the local code (Cambridge is 1223), followed by the remaining phone number. When dialling within the UK, leave out the international access code. You must add a 0 in front of the local code and phone number (01223).
